Delay

2021
We are elated to announce we have been able to reschedule our celebration to October 30th, 2021!
Last summer, we were able to become legally married in a small COVID-safe ceremony with our immediate families. We knew we wouldn't be satisfied without sharing our love with our friends and family. Therefore, we will have a celebratory ceremony and wedding reception this fall to share our love and celebrate with some family and friends. We hope you can join us at our celebration!
Love,
Hannah and Alexander

What We Did

We had a small, COVID-safe ceremony with our immediate family on August 23rd, 2020 where we were legally married!

The date of August 23rd holds a special place in our family. Hannah's parents were married on August 23rd around lunchtime in New Hampshire. At almost the same time on the same date of the same year, Alexander's parents got married in Rhode Island! This special date was so important, we decided to have the ceremony on that special date and then have a celebration and reception when it was safe to do so!

What We're Doing

We are (really hoping) to celebrate this October!

This October 30th, we are planning to host a reception for our loved friends and family at our home in Lee, NH. We will have a ceremony to celebrate our marriage last year, and to thank you for joining us! We will then have a cocktail hour while we take some group pictures. Following that will be a buffet dinner with amazing food and cake! We hope to see you then!

Lee and the Seacoast of New Hampshire

Getting There and Away

Lee is located 20 minutes from the seacoast of NH. An hour from Boston, 45 minutes from Manchester, an hour from the Lakes of NH, with the mountains just beyond.

For those flying in, you may fly in to Boston Logan (1 hour), Manchester-Boston Regional (45 Minutes), or Portland (Maine) International (1 hour +).

We understand many will be more comfortable driving in these uncertain times of COVID. Take I-95 to NH Exit 5. Take NH Route 16 to exit 9. The Hampton Inn is to the right, at the next light (on the left corner). The Homewood Suites is to the left (on the right side).

Where to Stay

Below is a brief list of recommendations on places to stay near Lee.

We will provide a shuttle these hotels to the venue.

Hampton Inn The Hampton Inn is conveniently located just off the highway and close to the wedding venue. It is about a 15 minute drive to the venue. We have a block of discounted rooms reserved there - use the link above to get the group discount.
Homewood Suites Homewood Suites is located a minute closer to the venue in Dover. We have a block of discounted rooms here as well, use the link above to get the group discount.
Hotels/Bed and Breakfasts in Town There are a large number of smaller hotels and B&B's around Dover, Portsmouth, Durham, and surrounding areas.
Vacation rentals Both VRBO and airbnb have a number of vacation rentals in the area. This is also a highly recommended and often more affordable option for those who don't mind something a bit more self-service.

Things to Do

There's no shortage of things to do in the seacoast! We highly recommend spending a few days (or weeks) in the area!

Paperless

This is a paperless wedding. Many of the traditional paper items such as save the dates, invitations, programs, thank you cards, etc. are being delivered digitally. This allows us to allocate those resources to other aspects of the celebration. Conserving the planet's resources is a nice added bonus, too! Thanks for your help and understanding!

Investment

We decided to make the prep work for this wedding an investment rather than a one time expense. By making our home's yard into a beautiful setting for the ceremony and reception, we can enjoy it for years to come. Hannah is using her mad thrifting skills to make unique table settings, fun decorations, and many other elements to showcase our love and style. Alexander is falling on his years of event production experience to make sure everyone is heard, the logistics are all taken care of, and everyone has a good time.

COVID Safety

The ongoing COVID pandemic has touched each of us differently.
We had to reschedule our reception last summer. We chose this fall with the hope the pandemic would be clearly behind us. Unfortunately that is not the case. We are continuing with this reception and hoping for the best, knowing things may change again tomorrow. We are requiring a few things to help ensure safety:

  • Vaccines are required for every person over the age of 12. Only medical exemptions will be granted.
  • The event is completely outside. We have a tent (and will have heaters), and the tent is oversized for the number of guests.
  • Table sizes will be determined based on the severity of the pandemic as we get closer to the day of the event.
  • We may require masks if the pandemic severity on the event day requires it. You may choose to wear a mask under any circumstance, we will only ask you to remove it for a picture, and it is your choice to do that.
  • If the weather cooperates, we may be able to move some tables out from under the tent to the yard, to further decrease risk of transmission.
  • We completely understand anyone who decides they are not comfortable attending our reception. Nothing will be held against you, we promise!

Gifts

Hannan and Alexander are fortunate to have many of the material things needed to start their life together. We don't feel gifts are necessary, but did compile a registry for those who would like to share gifts.

Our Thankful Registry

Our Story

In June 2018, shortly after they started dating, Alexander and Hannah both knew they would be together forever. A shared admiration for the TV show "How it's Made" and Milwaukee tools gave a glimmer to all the shared interests in this couple.

Their new relationship was almost over before it started. On the Friday afternoon of their first date, an emergency occurred at Hannah's work. She was worried Alexander wouldn't wait around, but he waited the few hours until everything was settled. They had settled on getting a slice at a pizza place in Concord. This was not meant to be. Little did they know a festival was planned for that day closing the street and making the area quite overcrowded. Thinking on their feet, they decided to go to a Friendly's right outside the city instead. They got to know eachother more over the coming weeks and months.

Alexander was and is very set in his ways. In contrast Hannah wanted to express her emotions to Alexander after only a few months. As a compromise, they decided to say You Know. They still say it to this day!

Puppies

Hannah has been a lifelong dog lover. Though she was unable to have real dogs growing up, she cared for many stuffed animals through her youth. She finally got a wonderful chocolate lab during a previous relationship. After that relationship ended and a long custody dispute finally came to resolution, both Hannah's chocolate boy and his daughter got to stay together, but lost their mother.

On Memorial Day, Hannah saw a post that a daughter of her first chocolate lab had a litter. Without hesitation Alexander asked if one of the puppies was still available. There was! A few weeks later the couple went up to pick out a little chocolate lab puppy!

Hannah and Alexander wanted to make sure a good name was chosen. After a many discussions, the name Toby was suggested. Alexander had a friend from school with that name and suggested Tommy instead. It didn't hurt that Thomas the Tank Engine was one of Alexander's favorite shows growing up.

Tommy was picked up on August 5th, just two days after Hannah and Alexander were engaged!

A little over a month later, Hannah ended the long custody battle and chose to let her first dogs stay together. This resulted in picking out Molly later that day.

Molly is a half sister of Tommy, sharing a father. She's also a half sister of Hannah's first black lab, sharing a mother.

Both puppies are incredibly well behaved and are a perfect start to our family!

The Proposal

Alexander enlisted Hannah's friend to help find the needed details of the ring. The couple had discussed some details about the general style and materials in the ring, with Hannah insisting it wasn't too extravagant. After her friend got Hannah to find her ring size, Alexander ordered the ring. He chose a lab created diamond, because like their love, this stone and band are forged just for the two of them.

Since he's very set in his ways, Alexander wanted to make sure the couple had been dating for over a year before becoming engaged. This is in contrast to both sets of parents, who dated for only a few months before getting engaged. They even got married on the same day in 1986!

Mid summer 2019 Hannah and Alexander took a well-deserved vacation to Hannah's grandparent's house (now her parent's vacation house) in the fingerlakes of New York. From here, the couple traveled down three hours to Alexander's family reunion camping at Parker Dam State Park in Pennsylvania. Saturday morning, before anyone else woke up, Alexander got Hannah up and the couple went on a walk down to the embankment overlooking the lake and dam. Here, Alexander got down on one knee and asked to share the rest of their lives together. She said yes!
